The production process of clay bricks

Clay bricks are made of clay as the main raw material, which is treated with mud, shaped, dried and fired. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, China successively created square and rectangular bricks. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the technology, production scale, quality and fancy varieties of bricks have developed significantly.

The size of ordinary bricks is 240 mm × 115 mm × 53 mm, and is divided into 6 strength grades such as MU30, MU25, MU20, MU15, MU10, MU7.5 according to the size of the compressive strength (Newton/square millimeter, N/mm2).

Clay bricks are made from local materials, are cheap, durable, and have the advantages of fire prevention, heat insulation, sound insulation, moisture absorption, etc., and are widely used in civil construction projects. Waste and broken bricks can also be used as aggregates for concrete.

In order to improve the shortcomings of ordinary clay bricks such as small size, self-weight and soil consumption, it is developing in the direction of light weight, high strength, hollow and large blocks. Lime-sand bricks are made of lime and quartz sand, sand or fine sandstone in appropriate proportions, which are ground, mixed with water, semi-dry pressed and cured by autoclave.

Fly ash bricks use fly ash as the main raw material, mixed with coal gangue powder or clay and other cementing materials, and are made by batching, molding, drying and roasting, which can make full use of industrial waste residues and save fuel.
