Common refractory bricks for steel ladles

(1) Magnesia carbon brick. This brick is mainly used in the slag line of steel ladles and is suitable for multi furnace continuous casting occasions. The MgO content in bricks is generally around 76%, and the carbon content is between 15% and 20%. Its characteristics are low corrosiveness to slag, good resistance to erosion and peeling.

(2) Aluminum magnesium castable. This castable is mainly used for the ladle body, and its characteristic is that under the action of molten steel, MgO and A12O3 in the castable react to form aluminum oval spinel, which improves the slag resistance and thermal shock resistance of the lining.

(3) Aluminum magnesium carbon brick. This brick is a steel ladle lining developed on the basis of aluminum magnesium castables and has a long service life.

(4) Free burn bricks. At present, almost all the materials used for firing bricks in steel ladles can be made into corresponding unburned bricks. Its characteristics are relatively simple production process and low price. Bricks themselves have certain mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, making them convenient for construction and masonry.

(5) Clay refractory bricks. The content of Al2O3 in clay bricks is generally between 30% and 50%, mainly used for the ladle * * layer and ladle bottom.

(6) Refractory high alumina brick. The content of Al2O3 in bricks is between 50% and 80%, mainly used for the working layer of steel ladles.

(7) Wax stone bricks. The characteristic of this brick is its high SiO2 content. Generally above 80%, it has better erosion resistance and overall integrity than clay bricks, and does not hang slag. Commonly used for ladle walls and bottoms.

(8) Zirconia bricks. This brick is mainly used for the slag line of steel ladles. The ZrO2 content in bricks is generally between 60% and 65%.
If the ladle itself is still used for refining, MgO-Cr2O3-A10O3 and MgO-CaO-C refractory materials can also be selected, mainly including magnesia chrome bricks, magnesia chrome aluminum bricks, dolomite bricks, etc. When using bricks with high ink content as ladle liners, apply a layer of anti-oxidation coating on their surface to prevent oxidation and looseness of the liner surface during firing, which may affect their service life.
